CLAS Excellence in Teaching Award to Dr.Ed Van Hees

Dr. Ed van Hees has been awarded one of eleven College of Arts and Science (CLAS) Excellence in Teaching Awards for 2008. He received the prestigious award for his teaching of both undergraduate and graduate geology courses. His teaching philosophy involves challenging his Geology, Environmental Science and Science Education students to think critically and "sets universally high expectations for his students in order to ensure that they are prepared for the role these future professionals will play in our society".

This award is the third teaching award received by current Geology Faculty members. Previous awards include a WSU President's Award for Excellence in Teaching presented to Dr. Larry Lemke in 2006 and a College of Science Excellence in Teaching Award presented to Dr. Jeffery Howard in 2000.
