Scholar explores intersection of race, labor and industry at global forum
This summer, Wayne State's Professor Valerie Efua Prince joined the biannual Race in the Marketplace (RIM) forum, a global event that brings together scholars to examine the influence of race in economic systems.
The RIM forum, a transdisciplinary research network, is dedicated to understanding the past, present and future interactions of race within marketplaces worldwide. Its mission is to foster knowledge that bridges scholarship and practice on how race impacts consumer behavior, labor and industry.
Prince presented research highlighting the intersection of unpaid labor and industrial development, focusing on generations of African American women whose domestic work evolved into a deeply rooted labor of love. Through this work, Prince sheds light on the historical and social significance of these women's contributions and their transformative role in industry.
