Reading Works gives grant to Wayne State to improve adult learning
Another Chance, sponsored by the Africana studies department, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, under the leadership of Professor Daphne W. Ntiri has just received its first grant of $20,000 from Reading Works.
This grant will increase literacy training services to Detroiters needing academic skills in order to earn their GED prior to transitioning into higher education or the world of work.
Another Chance is a decentralized adult learning program serving students from 18 to 50+ in various ethnic and faith-based locations of the city. It receives its primary funding from the federal government under the WIA Title II Act and has been in operation at WSU since 2009.
