Dr. Melba Boyd nominated for NAACP Image Award for Literature
Roses and Revolutions: The Selected Writings of Dudley Randall, edited by Melba Joyce Boyd (distinguished professor and chair of the Africana studies department) and published by Wayne State University Press, has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Literature in the Poetry category.
Professor Boyd is one of five finalists for this prestigious award. Winners will be announced at the televised ceremony to be held in Los Angeles on Friday, February 26, at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CT on the Fox Network.
The 41st NAACP Image Awards is the nation's premier event celebrating outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts (motion picture, television, recording and literature), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors. Nominees in the Poetry category represent a diverse group of talented authors of varied backgrounds and writing style.
