New bionic vest decreases fatigue and prevents injury in labor workers

Host of CBC News' The National, Andrew Chang, visits Michigan where workers on the assembly line are equipped with an exoskeleton suit to reduce strain on their bodies. The bionic vest technology reduces worker fatigue and can prevent injury.

Wayne State labor professor Marick Masters comments about the use of this new technology. “One can always look at it from a 1984 perspective, or a brave new world perspective. But I look at it from a more positive point of view, that this is taking advantage of technology and trying to use it for a good purpose to make the quality of work life and to reduce injuries better. Wouldn’t we be fool hardy to not take advantage of that opportunity?”
