Chemistry student receives Consortium for Faculty Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship
Alberto Lopez, a Ph.D. student studying chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been awarded a Consortium for Faculty Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship from Gettysburg College.
This fall, he will teach and conduct research at Amherst College in Massachusetts. The Consortium was created to improve the diversity of students and faculty at liberal arts colleges across the country.
Lopez is currently in his fifth year of studying organic chemistry at Wayne State and is a member of the Stockdill Lab.
He credits his mentors, professors Jenn Stockdill and Tamara Hendrickson as his inspiration throughout his education. Lopez hopes to teach and continue his research after graduation in 2017.
