Lori Pile earns Career Development Award

Lori Pile, Ph.D., has been awarded a Wayne State University Career Development Award based on her research achievements. Dr. Pile was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor last year.

Her work on chromatin remodeling in the model organism Drosophila explores the role of the SIN3 histone deacetylase complex in gene regulation. As misregulation of gene expression can have profound effects on organismal development and metabolism, Dr. Pile's research has implications for understanding the causes of birth defects, cancer and diseases in humans.

Work in her laboratory is currently funded through a five-year NIH grant.
