Psychology professor receives grant to study the effect of dog-human interaction on social skills

Dr. Annemarie Cano recently received a $152,000 grant from two sources to study if instructing incarcerated teens to train animal shelter dogs in basic obedience skills will improve the teens' social skills and quality of life.

The funding comes from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development of the National Institutes of Health and Mars Inc.'s Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition.
