Undergraduate admissions for transfer students

Psychology Major Information Meeting

We invite you to join us for an upcoming Psychology Major Information Meeting (if you are not yet admitted to WSU, please enter your email address in the AccessID field). This two-hour meeting is led by an academic advisor and covers psychology major requirements, information about graduate school, research experience, volunteer experience, the GRE, career resources, tips for success and much more.

You may want to familiarize yourself with the psychology major requirements, WSU general education requirements and degree requirements for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Please note that degree requirements are determined based upon your first semester at WSU, so these requirements may change between now and the date you begin as a new student at WSU.

About transfer credits

The psychology major requires approximately 38 total psychology credits, including at least 20 psychology credits completed at Wayne State. For that reason, we recommend that students avoid taking more than 18 psychology credits at another institution prior to transferring to Wayne State. WSU allows students to transfer a maximum of 64 total credits from a community college and all students must complete their final 30 consecutive credits at Wayne State.

The transfer credit course equivalency tool will help you identify if/how your credits will transfer to Wayne State and transfer plans can help you to identify which classes at your institution will fulfill WSU general education requirements (transfer plans are only available for Michigan community colleges). If you're transferring from a Michigan community college, the best and most efficient way to complete your general education requirements is to complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) requirements prior to transferring to Wayne State. Please contact your community college advisor to discuss MTA and how you can complete it.

Still considering Wayne State?

We encourage you to visit campus and/or request more information from an advisor. The Transfer Student Success Center provides many resources to transfer students, including unofficial transcript evaluations, referrals to relevant campus offices and the Transfer Warrior Community group.

Ready to apply?

Be sure to submit an application for admission as soon as possible in order to receive maximum consideration for Transfer Merit Scholarships.

I'm admitted! Now what?

Schedule a Transfer Student Orientation. Academic advisors will meet with you during orientation to help you select your first-semester classes. Please bring a copy of your unofficial transcript, including any courses in progress, to your orientation and/or your individual academic advising appointment.

You may schedule an individual advising appointment once you have been admitted to WSU and have had your transfer credits evaluated.

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon! If you have any further questions after reviewing all the information provided above and after attending the Psychology Major Information Meeting, please contact psychologyadvising@wayne.edu.
