The department is pleased to announce the appointment of Tiana Fluker as the new coordinator for the Mathematics Resource Center (MRC).

Those who have been involved with the department recently know that Tiana has been associated with the department in a variety of capacities for many years. She was selected from a field of more than 30
applicants for the position and the department is fortunate to have someone with her combination of personal and technical skills serving as its program coordinator.

In the 1990s, fresh from Cass Tech, where she was salutatorian, she started her career as an undergraduate in the Emerging Scholars Program. She subsequently served as a tutor in the department's tutoring center while earning her bachelor's degree in mathematics. Later, while working in the department office, where she served as graduate secretary, she completed a master's degree in applied mathematics.

The MRC is a key component of the department's efforts to encourage and support student success. It provides tutoring services for students in a wide range of MAT courses, from the developmental level through calculus to upper-division courses for mathematics majors. The MRC also serves advanced students through a variety of activities.
