Welcome Assistant Professor Peter Staroverov

We are very excited to announce that Dr. Peter D. Staroverov, a specialist in phonology, has joined the Linguistics Program faculty as an assistant professor in the English department.

Dr. Staroverov received his M.A. in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from Moscow State University in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rutgers University in 2014 with a dissertation entitled "Splitting theory and consonant epenthesis." Dr. Staroverov has publications in Phonology, Studies in Formal Slavic Linguistics, and in the proceedings of the meetings of NELS (Northeast Linguistic Society), WCCFL (West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics) and SALT (Semantics and Linguistic Theory), among others.

Most recently, he has been working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Institute of Linguistics at Leipzig University. He has conducted linguistic fieldwork in Russia on Tundra Nenets, a Uralic language, and on Buriat, a Mongolic language.
