History receives AHA Mellon Career Diversity Grant

Wayne State joins 19 other Departments of History in receiving a Career Diversity Implementation Grant from the American Historical Association and funded by the Mellon Foundation. The Graduate School at Wayne State has generously provided institutional support for this project at Wayne.

For background, last year, Eric Ash, Tracy Neumann, and Elizabeth Faue participated in the Career Diversity Institutes sponsored by the AHA in preparation for this grant. Now, on this two-year program, the History Department will have an internal Career Diversity Fellow to assist in "better integrating broad-based professional development into [our] department's culture and doctoral curriculum" and in expanding doctoral students' "career opportunities inside and beyond the academy." There will be more information on this project ahead, as we begin our work.
