English alum Amanda Lewan to receive award

Amanda LewanWayne State University alum Amanda Lewan will be the recipient of the Detroit Young Professionals Vanguard Award this October. Detroit Young Professionals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of the next generation of Metro-Detroit leaders.

The creative writer and marketer has taken the leap from writing about entrepreneurs in "Michipreneur," a publication focused on news and events about the state's entrepreneurs to being one herself as the co-founder and CEO of Bamboo Detroit, Detroit's largest, members-only co-working space.

In 2012, Amanda received her M.A. in English from WSU with a focus in creative writing. She has spent the past seven years working as a freelance storyteller, helping businesses build their brand through storytelling and creative marketing strategies. Amanda has worked with a variety of clients, from small businesses to large technology companies and hospitals, creating original digital content to enhance their web presence.
