After a much disappointing pandemic-related postponement, it's time for the WaynePop2020 Conference to make its return in a fully virtual format! This year the conference will have the theme of "Hindsight is 2020: How Popular Culture Writes, Rewrites, and Unwrites History."

Throughout the week the WaynePop crew have been posting a variety of conference submissions to their WordPress and YouTube pages. The conference's synchronous events are slated for Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26th via Zoom.

Friday's synchronous events will start with the conference welcome and a meet and greet followed by the Knit Lit: Fiber Arts & Reading Group and the Warrior Gaming: Trivia Night at 2:00 p.m. EST, 3:00 p.m. EST, and 5:00 p.m. EST respectively.

Saturday will feature a "speed geeking" session where everyone has a chance to discuss their research in a speed dating fashion at 12:30 p.m. EST. Following this there will be the main synchronous events of the conference, Roundtable: Pop Culture Pedagogy, facilitated by Shelby Cadwell with a variety of professors from Wayne State University, Bowling Green University, and Baker College at 2:15 p.m. EST. Following this at 4:00 p.m. EST will be this year's Dennis Turner Memorial Lecture done by Dr. Shelley Streeby, Professor of Ethnic Studies and Literature at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Streeby's talk, Speculative Archives: Hidden Histories and Ecologies of Science Fiction World-Making, will be based around her recent work on the Octavia E. Butler papers, which will explore the future-facing memory work done by female science fiction writers throughout their research.
