Meet the May PhDs!

Md Mamunur Rashid, of the Allen Research Group successfully defended his dissertation: "Lanthanide-Based Responsive Contrast Agents for Magnetic Resonance Imaging" on Monday, May 15, 2023. He completed his work under his advisor, Matt Allen, and committee members; Stephanie Brock, Vladimir Chernyak, and Dr. Meser Ali from Henry Ford. Mamunor's next adventure will be at Harvard/Mass General Hospital as a Postdoc.

On May 18, 2023, Chelsea Gary defended her dissertation: "The Study of Human Histidine Kinases Using ATP Analogs." Chelsea's research was done under her advisor, Mary Kay Pflum. Her committee included Jenn Stockdill, John SantaLucia, and Penelope Higgs (WSU, Biological Sciences).

Regina G. Szlag Silva successfully defended on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023. The title of the dissertation was: "Mixed-Metal Trifluoroacetates as Single-Source Precursors and Optical Sensors." Regina's research was conducted under the supervision of advisor, Federico Rabuffetti and committee members; Charles Winter, Zhenfei Liu, and Leela Arava (WSU, College of Engineering.

The 21st Ph.D. from the Verani Group, Abigail F. Cousino, defended her dissertation with flying colors on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. The title of the dissertation was: "Applications of Metallosurfactants Towards Directional Electron Transport in Au|LB|Au Junctions and Metal Recovery by Ion Flotation." According to her advisor, Claudio Verani, "She did an outstanding job discussing uses of metallosurfactants for currency rectification and metal recovery." Her defense committee members included; Stas Groysman, Tamara Hedrickson, and Shawn McElmurry (WSU, College of Engineering). A tenure track position awaits Abigail at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.
