Lumigen Center receives NSF award to support outreach for underserved K-12 students

Wayne State's Lumigen Instrument Center has been awarded a prestigious and highly competitive grant from the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program of the National Science Foundation (NSF) (award number 2018587).

The award of $980,000 will fund the acquisition of a new high-resolution electron microscope that will enable multidisciplinary materials research, education and outreach by training students in modern microscopy through hands-on educational activities for underserved K-12 students in the city of Detroit.

The team that made all of this possible was led by Stephanie Brock and included Chuck Winter, Federico Rabuffetti, Judy Westrick, and Mike Mei.
